shri ram sharnam ashram
Oh, Resplendent Divine, Instil in me the wisdom to keep my heart tuned towards you and let my life be a reflection of your love.

Yoga is not a religion.  It is not necessary for you to believe in a certain god or to chant certain hymns.  It is spiritual and ancient science, which leads to health in the body, peace in the mind, happiness in the heart and liberation of the soul.  It is the most secular and universal system for human salvation.  Different forms of yoga: hatha yoga, raja yoga, karma yoga, bhakti yoga, jnana yoga, mantra yoga and laya yoga provide a complete system of self transformation and self realization which are the ultimate goals of human existence.  Yoga has been proven as scientific method for curing and preventing common as well as rare acute diseases.

Sit in comfortable posture with the spine and neck kept straight and vertical.  Close your eyes and pass through the following steps:

1. Relax quickly and deeply from bottom to top, let your attention swiftly scan your body and release all tensions.

2. Let your breathing become calm and peaceful.

3. Turn the attention inward and disconnect yourself from the outer disturbing factors (noises etc.) begin to withdraw the mind from any thoughts that arise by making a brief but determined effort to stop the discursive thinking.

4. Concentrate the mind upon the object of your choice.

If you mediate for half an hour daily, you will be able to face life with peace and spiritual strength, meditation is the most powerful mental and nerve tonic. It opens the door to intutitive knowledge and realms of eternal bliss. The mind become calm and steday.
